In Asia, livestock contributes significantly to agricultural growth by providing manure, fuel, and fertilizers, supporting rural livelihoods, food security, and local economies. However, livestock farming also comes with environmental challenges, particularly the harmful impact of untreated wastewater discharge on water bodies, soil quality, surrounding ecosystems, and overall biodiversity.</p>

<p data-start="630" data-end="1279">Livestock wastewater contains high levels of color, COD, BOD, nitrogen, and suspended solids. On a typical farm, large volumes of wastewater are produced daily. When discharged untreated, this water can severely pollute ground and surface water, threatening aquatic life, soil fertility, surrounding habitats, and the overall health of the local environment. To comply with environmental regulations and reduce ecological impact, farmers employ various technological solutions for wastewater treatment, including chemical, physical, and biological processes, tailored to the specific composition of the wastewater and the farm’s operational needs.</p>

To ensure sustainable operations, the company uses ozone for wastewater treatment, reducing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) from 300 ppm to 100 ppm. Each of the two water-treatment plants on-site has a capacity of 70 cubic meters per hour and operates six GM48 ozone generators.</p>
<p data-start="652" data-end="1040">After four years of using another brand of ozone generator, LG Chemicals experienced technical issues that prompted a search for a more reliable solution. The company replaced the existing units with six <strong data-start="856" data-end="891">Primozone GM48 ozone generators</strong> in one wastewater treatment plant. Impressed by the performance, LG Chemicals added another six GM48 units in the second plant the following year.</p>
<p data-start="1042" data-end="1358">While the <strong data-start="1052" data-end="1077">GM48 ozone generators</strong> showed similar power consumption to the previous machines, LOX costs were reduced by 30%, demonstrating both efficiency and cost savings. Today, the <strong data-start="1227" data-end="1251">Primozone GM48 units</strong> continue to operate reliably at LG Chemicals, supporting sustainable and effective wastewater treatment.</p></div>

<p>The use of ozone in cooling tower water systems has several functions. The water for the E.ON cooling tower comes from a small river and contains bacteria and other contaminations when entering the system. These bacteria need to be destroyed to prevent bacterial growth in the cooling tower.</p>
<p>Ozone is a very strong disinfectant, it is much more efficient than chlorine on for example E. Coli bacteria and Legionella Pneumo-Phila. In addition, it leaves no residue and the water can safely be let back out into the river. Ozone is, therefore, the most effective and environmentally friendly method of controlling the microbiology of cooling tower water.</p>
<p>Ozone also prevents biological deposits inside the cooling water tower and the heat exchangers, which otherwise can create problems like blocking and corrosion.</p></div>
